ZapGo Ltd (Zap&Go) is a high technology business founded in Oxford in 2013. The company has developed a solution to the problems encountered by all the current generation of rechargeable appliances, devices and vehicles: slow charging. Called Carbon-Ion (C-IonTM), in contrast to Lithium-ion, this technology is based on carbon nano-materials including the ‘wonder-material’ graphene. The result is ultra-fast charging – in 5 minutes or less.
The technology and a growing patent portfolio is in part derived from Oxford University, and in part developed independently by Zap&Go’s own scientists. The company is at the capability stage with a number of prototype demonstrators. Its first commercial product is due to enter production in 2018. The company is backed by a wide circle of private investors, and has raised investment of over £10 million to date.
